(A)WW: Marathon Weekend

This past weekend was the Chevron Houston Marathon. As I have done many times over the past almost 30 years, I participated as one of the ham (Amateur) radio communications volunteers.

“Ham” as in “Amateur”, not as in the pig meat.

I was working on – you guessed it – the “Timing Net”.

There was, of course, the food. Thank goodness for the Starbucks in the Convention Center, and the employees who opened up early to keep us fed and caffeinated!

And, while it was a bit cool inside, it was a lot warmer than it was in the TV broadcast booth!

It was cold out there. And wet. Very, very wet.

Late in the morning, after my work was done, I had a chance to see some of the goings-on. From the warmth of a skybridge. Because IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE!

The end of the line.

All in all, however, it was a fun morning, and a very worthy cause. We had a lot of crazies runners out there, and I admire them for their lack of sense sheer guts and stick-to-it-ness!

Happy WW!
