One of the things I like about the Houston Museum of Natural Science is the fact that they allow photographers to take pictures of really neat stuff. Not only that, they even have events (called “Pixel Parties”) where photographers can come out and shoot some pretty special stuff – stuff that, in some cases, can’t be photographed by the general public.
Of course, they also invite some local food purveyors out to make sure we aren’t hungry:
This time, the special exhibit we got to see and shoot was Fabergé: A Brilliant Vision. Among the things we got to see were
Eggs.
Fabergé eggs.
Lots of Fabergé eggs.
So many, many Fabergé eggs.
I will never be able to look at decorated Easter eggs the same way again.
If you want to see more of the photos I took at this exhibit, you can find them at my set on Flickr. Of course, you can also wait until next week, ’cause I suspect more of them will find their way onto this blog.
Happy WW!

Faberge eggs are incredible, aren’t they?! When I was in St Petersburg, Russia, I went to The Hermitage to see their display of Faberge eggs, only to discover they were almost all on tour that month!

Awesome series of the eggs! Love the one in the upper right corner in the fourth series down (deep green with the gold).

I have a handpainted egg I bought when in Russia years ago… it changed how I looked at Easter eggs but Faberges really raise it another notch. I love the exhibits!

Those are so cool! I’m always amazed at the talent that goes into those incredible eggs – and yeah, I wouldn’t be looking at decorated Easter Eggs the same again, either.
