(A)WW: Let There Be Lytro!

Last week, I exchanged a bit of my bonus for a new toy – a Lytro light field camera. While it may not be the “future of photography” – yet – it does open up some new creative possibilities. Possibilities I decided to explore this past weekend.

Here is a picture I took of some decorative plant live near where I live.

I particularly like the 3-D effect you get when you click, hold, and drag on the image.

Here’s a shot through the gate down a walkway. Look at how the focal point can be changed, just click on the point you want to be in focus.

I then headed down to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where I visited the paleo hall, the Fabergé exhibit, and another exhibit on carved gemstones. I am still working on some of the photos (it seems the old bones didn’t respond to the “Lytro treatment” as well as some of the other images), but here are some shots from the other two:

Carved armchair.

Fabergé eggs.

More Fabergé eggs.

Several Fabergé creations (they didn’t just make eggs, you know.)

Play around with the photos, and enjoy the effects! Happy WW!
